Orte is Forest No. 50 in the «Boschi didattici» register of the Apulia Region. This initiative aims to pursue a process of fruition and dissemination of the natural heritage of the area.
Orte Bosco Didattico is unique in its kind. It is located in an evocative stretch of coastline that, for centuries, has symbolized, the «Gate» on the east of the country, and a meeting place between peoples of the Mediterranean. The fauna in this area is also very diverse. For example, the forest constitutes a stage of habitual passage for migratory avifauna.
